The Valve Proving System checks if the main gas valves are tightly closed before allowing the burner to start. If the check fails, the system locks out for safety reasons.
What the system checks
The system creates and monitors a specific pressure in the space between the two valves. If the pressure changes beyond the permitted limit, it assumes there is a leak.
Potential causes of failure
A valve that does not seal, dirt on the seat, a faulty pressure switch, a leak in the tubing, or incorrect timing are common causes.
V1 and V2 inspection
It must be determined which valve is causing the problem. This is done according to the manufacturer's procedure and with safe pressure measurements.
Minor external leaks
A connection in the intermediate section can cause the same result as an internal valve leak. For this reason, the entire test volume is checked.
After repair
The valve proving must be repeated and successfully completed before a new start is permitted.
