The Valve Proving System checks whether gas solenoid valves are effectively sealed before or after burner operation. It is particularly common in industrial burners and installations where an increased level of safety is required.

What it checks

The system checks the area between two safety valves. By controlled opening and closing, it monitors the pressure and determines if any valve has an unwanted leak.

How the check is performed

The precise sequence depends on the manufacturer. Usually, a specific pressure condition is created in the intermediate space, and it is monitored to see if it remains within permissible limits for a specific time.

What an alarm in tightness control means

An alarm does not always mean there is a major external leak. It may be due to an internal valve leak, incorrect pressure, a sensor/pressostat failure, or a problem in the control system piping.

Basic diagnostic check

It is checked whether the valves are powered correctly, if they close mechanically, if the pressostat or pressure sensor is functioning properly, and if the sequence timings are as specified.

Why it should not be bypassed

Bypassing the valve proving cancels a critical safety check. If the system fails repeatedly, the cause must be diagnosed rather than simply reset.
