Every natural gas meter has a specific flow range within which it can operate with the expected accuracy. The basic values are Qmin and Qmax.
What is Qmin
Qmin is the minimum flow rate at which the meter can measure within the specified accuracy limits.
What is Qmax
Qmax is the maximum flow rate for which the meter is designed. Exceeding this may increase pressure drop and decrease measurement reliability.
What is rangeability
It is the ratio of Qmax to Qmin and indicates how wide a flow range the meter can properly cover.
Practical significance
In installations with high load fluctuations, a meter is required that reliably records both low and high flow rates.
