The pressure regulator reduces inlet pressure and attempts to maintain a constant outlet pressure, even when consumption changes.
Diaphragm
The diaphragm senses the outlet pressure and moves according to the difference between the actual and desired value.
Spring
The spring creates the reference force that corresponds approximately to the desired setpoint.
Main valve
The valve opens or closes further to increase or decrease the flow rate.
What happens when the load increases
The outlet pressure tends to drop and the regulator opens further to allow a larger amount of gas to pass through.
What happens when consumption decreases
The regulator closes to restrict flow and avoid downstream overpressure.
