In many gas trains, there are two consecutive automatic valves, often referred to as V1 and V2. The dual configuration increases the level of safety.

Double isolation

If one valve does not close completely, the second provides an additional barrier to the supply.

Operation sequence

Opening and closing are controlled by the burner management system according to the manufacturer's logic.

Valve proving

In many installations, the space between V1–V2 is used for an internal tightness check before start-up is permitted.

Maintenance

The condition of the valves is verified using the prescribed procedure, and the safety chain must not be bypassed.
