What is a Megger

It is an insulation resistance measuring instrument. It uses a specific test voltage to check if the insulation of a cable or motor remains in good condition.

When is it used

  • On cables.
  • On electric motors.
  • After exposure to moisture.
  • After a serious electrical fault.

Caution

Before the measurement, inverters, PLCs, and other sensitive electronics that could be damaged by the test voltage must be isolated.
