Fan coils are terminal units that use water from a heat pump for heating and, when the system supports it, for cooling.

Basic operating principle

The heat pump heats or cools the water, and a circulator sends it to the fan coils. The fan of each unit draws indoor air through the water coil to transfer heat.

Why they are compatible with a heat pump

Fan coils can perform satisfactorily with lower water temperatures compared to many conventional radiators, which helps improve the efficiency of the heat pump.

Heating and cooling

Hot water is used for heating, while cold water is used for cooling. Proper condensate drainage is required for cooling.

Important parameters

Proper operation depends on the supply temperature, water flow rate, fan speed selection, and correct hydraulic balancing.
