Commissioning buffer tank and hydraulic separator: essential checklist

After installing a buffer tank or hydraulic separator, proper commissioning requires measurements and not just a visual check.

1. Flow Rates

The actual flow rates of the primary and secondary circuits are checked.

2. Temperatures

Supply and return temperatures are measured on both sides.

3. Circulators

Verify that the speed and differential pressure correspond to the design specifications.

4. Sensors

Verify the correct positioning and logical reading of the buffer sensors.

5. Cycling

Monitor the compressor runtime to ensure the system does not undergo excessive start-stop cycles.
