Instantaneous flow rate and total consumption are two different metrics and are used for different purposes.
Instantaneous flow rate
It indicates how much gas is consumed per unit of time at that specific moment, for example Nm³/h.
Total consumption
It indicates how much gas has been consumed over a period, for example in an hour, day, or month.
Why both are needed
Instantaneous flow rate assists in sizing and diagnostics, while total consumption is used for energy monitoring and billing.
Example
A burner may have a high instantaneous flow rate but low daily consumption if it only operates for a few minutes.
