Minor leaks can be difficult to detect, especially in open or well-ventilated spaces. Proper diagnosis requires a combination of methods.
Local scanning
The electronic detector is moved slowly around all potential connections, not just in the most obvious spots.
Foaming agent
On suitable surfaces, it helps to confirm very small losses through sustained bubble formation.
Section isolation
In a larger network, gradual isolation helps narrow down the search area.
Pressure decay
If the section is suitable for such a test, pressure monitoring can confirm that there is a loss even if the exact point has not yet been located.
Beware of air currents
Air currents can carry gas away from the actual leak point and make detection difficult.
