In modern installations, part of the burner information is transmitted via communication. If this is interrupted, alarms or incorrect status may appear without a mechanical failure.

What is lost with communication

Load, status, alarm, or command indications may be lost, depending on the design.

Hardwired interlocks

Critical safety signals often remain hardwired. A distinction must be made between a communication fault and an actual safety trip.

Network check

Device power supply, cables, terminators, switches, and communication status are examined.

Signal mapping

Following a PLC or firmware change, incorrect mapping may display an incorrect status even if the burner is operating correctly.

Diagnosis

The local indication on the burner controller is compared with the one visible to the central BMS.
