Why DC circuits require specialized equipment

Direct current behaves differently than alternating current, especially regarding electric arc extinguishing.

Basic protections

  • DC fuses where required.
  • DC disconnectors.
  • SPDs suitable for DC.
  • Proper grounding and equipotential bonding.

Important

Do not use AC components in DC applications arbitrarily. Equipment must be appropriately certified for the voltage and current of the DC circuit.
