What does coordination mean?
In a properly designed installation, when a fault occurs in a line, only that specific line should be isolated as much as possible, rather than the entire installation.
Why is it important?
- It reduces downtime.
- It improves safety.
- It makes fault diagnosis easier.
How is it achieved?
Through the correct selection of nominal currents, curves, and operating times of successive protection devices.
Important
Coordination is not done "by eye." It is based on characteristic curves and manufacturer data.
