Flanged connections are widely used in industrial natural gas networks. Their seal integrity depends on the condition of the flange, the gasket, and proper tightening.
Causes of leakage
Old or unsuitable gaskets, uneven tightening, poor alignment, or thermal fluctuations can lead to a loss of seal integrity.
Alignment inspection
Flanges must come into contact without being forced into position by bolts. High mechanical stress increases the risk of future leakage.
Leak detection
After assembly, a leak test is performed using the facility's approved method.
Retightening
Arbitrary tightening on a pressurized line is prohibited. The procedure must follow maintenance guidelines and safety requirements.
Documentation
For critical flanges, it is useful to record the date of gasket replacement and the reason for the intervention.
