What is gG

gG is a general-purpose fuse that protects against overload and short circuit.

What is aM

aM is mainly used in motor circuits and protects primarily against short circuit. Overload is usually covered by a thermal relay.

Why they are not the same

They have different operating characteristics and are intended for different applications.
