Volumizers and buffer tanks add water volume to the system, but they do not always serve the same purpose.
Volumizer
Used mainly to increase total water volume and reduce frequent start-stops.
Buffer tank
Can provide both thermal inertia and hydraulic separation, depending on the connection.
Practical choice
If only minimum water volume is needed, a volumizer might be enough. If circuit decoupling is also required, a buffer or hydraulic separator is usually chosen.
