Legionella cycle in DHW: how the automation works

Many heat pump systems have a periodic thermal disinfection function for the DHW tank.

Basic principle

The controller periodically raises the tank temperature to a higher setpoint for a specific time.

Electric heater

In some systems, an auxiliary heater is used when the heat pump cannot reach the required temperature on its own.

Automation

The function is programmed by the controller and should not be disabled without assessing the installation.
