A proper hydraulic connection is a basic prerequisite for a heat pump to operate correctly. The flow carries the heated or cooled water to the installation, and the return leads it back to the unit.
Flow and return
The piping must be connected to the correct heat pump ports according to the manufacturer's hydraulic diagram.
Basic components
Typically included are isolation valves, a filter, an air vent, an expansion vessel, a safety valve, and filling/drain points.
Why the correct layout matters
Incorrect connection or insufficient flow can cause low efficiency, flow alarms, and frequent shutdowns.
