Moisture inside the refrigeration circuit can cause corrosion, acid formation, and problems with the expansion valve.

How it enters

During the opening of the circuit, from insufficient vacuum, or from hygroscopic oil that has been exposed to air.

Potential problems

Ice in the expansion device, oil degradation, and internal corrosion.

Prevention

Proper vacuum, quick work when the circuit is open, and an appropriate filter drier.
