A three-way mixing valve is used when a lower water temperature is required in the underfloor heating circuit than the one available in the main network.

How it works

It mixes hot supply water with cooler return water to achieve the desired temperature.

In a system with only a heat pump

It is not always necessary, especially if the heat pump can directly provide the correct low temperature.

In mixed systems

It can be useful when fan coils and underfloor heating require different temperatures.

Caution

Incorrect settings can unnecessarily increase the heat pump's supply temperature and reduce the COP.
