The diaphragm meter is one of the most common types of natural gas meters for small to medium consumption. It measures gas volume through the mechanical displacement of chambers.
Operating principle
Inside, there are flexible diaphragms that move as gas passes through. The repetitive motion corresponds to a specific volume and is converted into a consumption reading.
Advantages
It has good accuracy at low flow rates and can operate without an external power supply.
Limitations
It is not suitable for very high flow rates and creates a specific pressure drop that must be taken into account during sizing.
Maintenance and inspection
The mechanical condition, the tightness of the connections, and the behavior of the reading in relation to actual consumption are inspected.
