Flow short-circuiting means that water travels from the inlet to the outlet of the buffer without effectively utilizing the total volume of the tank.

When it occurs

Due to incorrect nozzle positioning, excessive flow velocity, or poor internal geometry.

Result

Actual thermal inertia is reduced, and more frequent cycling may occur.

Diagnosis

Temperature measurements at different heights and at the connections can indicate whether the tank is operating as intended.
