Why it happens
Motors draw increased current during startup. If the protection is not correctly selected or there is a mechanical problem, it may trip every time.
Possible causes
- Incorrect circuit breaker curve.
- Blocked motor.
- Low voltage.
- Short circuit or winding degradation.
Check
Measure the starting current and check for free rotation of the load.
Caution
Do not arbitrarily increase the circuit breaker rating just to stop it from tripping.
