Heat pumps can communicate with external automation systems in different ways.

Dry contact

Provides a simple digital command, such as enable/disable or heating/cooling request.

0–10 V

Allows for analog control, for example, setpoint or demand signal.

Modbus

Allows for the exchange of multiple data points, such as temperatures, alarms, setpoints, and operating status.

Proper interconnection

Only the manufacturer's specified inputs and communication registers should be used.
