R32, R410A and R290 are used in different generations and types of heat pumps. They differ in thermodynamic characteristics, environmental footprint and safety requirements.
R32
It is widely used in modern units and has a lower GWP than R410A.
R410A
For years it was very widespread in heat pumps and air conditioning, but it has a higher GWP.
R290
It is propane, with a very low GWP and very good thermodynamic properties, but it is flammable and requires special design and safety procedures.
Important
Refrigerants are not interchangeable without manufacturer approval.
