During defrost, the heat pump uses energy from the hydraulic or refrigerant circuit to melt ice on the external heat exchanger.
What happens to the supply
The water temperature may drop temporarily because the system is not delivering heat to the building in the normal way.
Role of the buffer tank
An adequate water volume helps to limit the sharp drop in temperature.
Fan coils
The fan may stop temporarily so that cold air is not blown.
Underfloor heating
Due to high thermal inertia, the effect of a short defrost is usually less noticeable in the space.
