What weather compensation does
Compensation changes the supply temperature based on the outdoor temperature. The colder it is outside, the more the supply setpoint usually increases.
What happens if the outdoor sensor shows the wrong value
If it “sees” a higher outdoor temperature than the actual one, the controller may keep the supply temperature low, and the house may not heat up sufficiently.
What else to check
- Compensation curve slope.
- Curve parallel shift.
- Design temperature.
- Sensor placement on the exterior wall.
Example
If it is 0°C outside but the controller “sees” 12°C, the supply temperature may be much lower than what the building requires.
Practical check
Compare the controller's outdoor temperature reading with an actual measurement and then check the curve.
