The electronic expansion valve (EEV) precisely regulates refrigerant flow to the evaporator. If it is not functioning correctly, pressure, superheat, and overall efficiency may be affected.
Possible symptoms
Low pressure alarm, high superheat, unstable operation, or reduced thermal capacity.
Electrical check
Check the wiring, connector, stepper motor, and the signal from the PCB.
Mechanical issue
The valve may be stuck or restricted by contaminants.
Diagnosis
The EEV position must be correlated with pressures, temperatures, and superheat, rather than being evaluated in isolation.
