What does a clamp meter do?
It measures the current flowing through a conductor without needing to disconnect the circuit.
How is a correct measurement performed?
The clamp must enclose only a single conductor. If it encloses both the phase and neutral simultaneously, the magnetic fields cancel each other out and the reading will be incorrect.
Where is it useful?
- In motors.
- In pumps.
- In electrical panels.
- For comparing currents between phases.
